Poem: On killing a tree.
Poet: Gieve Patel.
Theme: Condemnation of the human callousness in chopping down the tree.
- The poet describes the process of killing a tree.
- A tree cannot be cut by one jab.
- It takes a long time.
- Just cutting the tree is not enough.
- The root is the source of life for the tree.
- So, the root must be dug out.
- The tree should be dried in the sun.
- Then the tree will be completely killed.
- The poet makes the reader’s mind not to cut the tree.
